INDUSTRIES WE SERVE

Petrochemical

Phthalates & Chlor-Alkali · Process Water, ETP, Recovery & ZLD

The production of phthalates and chlor-alkalis demands robust, efficient water management — generating diverse wastewater streams while requiring high-quality water for production, utility and ancillary operations.

Ahura Aqua provides specialised treatment tailored to this sector across all four critical applications — Process Water, ETP, Recovery and Zero Liquid Discharge — ensuring both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Phthalates

PLASTICIZER PRODUCTION

Esterification-based production generates wastewater carrying organic compounds and process-specific chemicals that must be neutralised and treated before reuse or discharge.

Chlor-Alkali

BRINE ELECTROLYSIS

Electrolysis of brine to produce chlorine, caustic soda and hydrogen yields high-chloride, high-TDS effluent that demands precipitation, clarification and salt-tolerant recovery.
Four Critical Applications

END → TO → END

We cover the complete water cycle of a petrochemical plant — generating high-purity process & utility water, treating diverse effluent, recovering it for reuse and eliminating the final concentrate.

i

Process Water (DM)

HIGH-PURITY, CONTAMINATION-FREE

High-purity water is crucial to prevent contamination and ensure product quality. A multi-stage train delivers consistent demineralised water for the production process.

TREATMENT TRAIN

Output: High-purity DM

ii

Utility & Ancillary

COOLING / BOILER FEED

Water for cooling, boiler feed and support services — treated to each application’s specific quality requirement to prevent scaling, corrosion and other operational issues.

Grade: Boiler / Cooling

iii

Effluent Treatment (ETP)

ORGANICS • CHLORIDES

Diverse effluent — organic compounds, chlorides and process-specific chemicals — is treated before discharge or recovery via neutralization, precipitation, coagulation and clarification.

Targets: Organics • Chlorides

iv

Recovery & Zero Liquid Discharge

89–93% RECOVERED

Treated ETP water is further processed for reuse, achieving 89–93% recovery; the remaining 7–11% concentrate is evaporated via MVR for complete ZLD and sustainable, compliant operations.

Wastewater Recovered

89–93%

Recovered & reused across plant operations

Recover 89–93% → eliminate the final 7–11% for Zero Liquid Discharge

Advanced recovery delivers substantial cost savings and reduced freshwater intake. The remaining 7–11% concentrated stream is evaporated via Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR) — separating water from dissolved solids for complete ZLD and environmentally compliant operations.
