A softener works on ion exchange — sodium-rich resin beads absorb the calcium and magnesium that drive water hardness, releasing sodium in their place.

High total hardness means scale on pipelines, boiler tubes, heat exchangers and MEE calandrias. Ahura Aqua’s softeners are the standard pre-treatment to RO and make-up for cooling towers & boilers — protecting utility equipment for 15 years and more.

Nil Hardness for PW Generation & EDI

In Purified Water generation, even trace total hardness is the enemy of EDI. Calcium and magnesium scale the module’s concentrate and electrode compartments, collapsing resistivity and shortening stack life. A softener ahead of RO–EDI is therefore non-negotiable — it must deliver essentially nil hardness for the EDI to run stably and hold USP / EP conductivity targets.

Valve selection (diaphragm / butterfly) is configured to duty. Steel tanks are engineered for 45 psi working pressure and tested at 75 psi. Regeneration recharges the resin using sodium chloride (NaCl) brine.
