Pressure Sand & Activated Carbon Filters

Ahura Aqua’s high-performance media filters are the first barrier in every treatment train—removing fine particles, suspended solids, organic contamination, odour and colour from raw or ETP-treated water.

As the ideal pre-filtration stage ahead of UF, RO, EDI, UV and ion-exchange beds, they reduce pressure drop and fouling load, protecting downstream membranes and resins.

Two Filters, One Skid

Pressure Sand Filter

Algae & Microbes Graded media beds use finer sand on top for filtration, while heavier sand and anthracite beneath provide structural support. Water enters through a distributor that spreads flow evenly across the media bed for uniform filtration.

Activated Carbon Filter

Activated carbon media adsorbs dissolved organics, chlorine, colour and foul odours while also reducing oil and grease to a limited extent.

Primary Reduction

How It Works

01 Distribution

Feed water strikes an entry distributor, spreading evenly across the media bed for uniform flow.

02 Filtration

Suspended solids are retained within the fine media layer, while heavier graded media supports the filtration bed.

03 Saturation

As contaminants accumulate, the media bed gradually clogs, causing either reduced flow or increased TSS in the treated water.

04 Backwash

A differential pressure gauge indicates when cleaning is required. Backwashing flushes retained solids from the media bed and restores filtration capacity.
